Movement restriction has been imposed in many parts of the world due to the pandemic. Efforts to curb the local transmission of COVID-19 in Brunei has been implemented recently, with a duration of 2 weeks. The curfew aims to reduce movement from 8PM to 4AM, and it is not to be perceived as a national lockdown or any reason to panic. Citizens are still being given flexibility to commute anywhere necessary during daytime.
With the streets being empty at night; no sound of cars driving around, almost complete silence around your neighbourhood, just the occasional rain sound and wind breeze, it is pretty spooky.
But don’t be afraid.. It’s the curfew taking place.
You must be thinking, “OMG what am I going to do? I’m going to be so bored!”, only because you cannot leave your house during the curfew. But fret not, other than being glued to your phone and scrolling through social media, we’ve got some ideas for you!
1. Move Around!
This doesn’t necessarily mean getting up and working out. It’s as simple as blasting your favourite song and dancing to it, while you release endorphins. It’ll help you sweat a little and make you feel better 🙂
2. Time to Focus On Your Hobbies
Whether it’s playing the guitar, cooking, reading, or maybe even just playing video games, hobbies are always a good way to pass the time. You may even discover your hidden talents!
3. Hangout Virtually
Just because we’re in the middle of a pandemic and existing curfew, we shouldn’t deprive ourselves of social interactions. Meet your friends, friend’s cats and dogs, family, partners virtually! There are loads of platforms you can use such as Facetime, Skype, Zoom, Google Meet etc.
P/S: It’s always nice to check up on your loved ones while at it.
4. Binge Your Comfort Movie/Series
This is the perfect timing to do so without feeling guilty! If you’ve got a pending television series to complete, go ahead and watch it! Oh, and the best part is.. You can also do this while being on a video call with your friends. Simply share your screen and ta-da! Free movie night with your friends unlocked.
5. Time to Complete Unfinished Matters
If you’ve got a bucket of unfolded laundry in your room, we’ve got something in common. With the curfew imposed, we finally have the time to do chores we’ve been stalling to do. Perfect timing to declutter a messy space too!
6. Just Rest
Even if you aren’t the kind to go to bed at 9PM, why not give it a try? You will wake up earlier, feeling more refreshed and you can get a lot of things done too. My friends, this is the best time to repay all the naps you’ve lost. Cherish it, get some sleep.
2 weeks of movement restriction isn’t that bad, we got this. There’s a bunch of things you can do or work on during the duration of the curfew. Let’s all work together with the government by being a law abiding citizen, so we all can have COVID-19 free days again! By staying home you’re not only protecting yourself, but you protect others too.
Let’s do our part together in curbing this pandemic.
